ABOUT TONY KENT
It all started a long time ago, when as a six-year old, I was seated in the cockpit of a Sabre F86 fighter jet by my Uncle, then serving in the South African Air Force.
That was it! I had to be a pilot one day! Those dials, switches, knobs, levers, and that smell in the cockpit of the aeroplane instilled the desire to fly.
Fast forward 36 years, when I was able to get my Private Pilot Licence (PPL) after having started my own business. I had never lost the passion in the interim, and would read every magazine or book I could lay my hands on. I would hang around airfields, ogling aeroplanes. Any chance of attending an Airshow, I was there! Likewise, the annual EEA airshow in Margate during the 1980’s was a must. Just loved mixing it with the pilots and being up and close with aeroplanes. Too many stories to tell……….
My romance with aviation took a giant leap when I was able to have a 10 year love-affair with my own Cessna 182. More than one person told me it was “the best 182” in the country, or what they had ever flown. I then got my Commercial Pilot License (CPL) and got busy with Charter work, and subsequently a year later, with Instruction too.
