Have fun while learning…….

Tailor-made courses, from 1 day to 6 days, dependent on your time and budget. I will get you comfortable with your aircraft, and safely take you outside your comfort zone, making short- and soft-field procedures (AND THE CORRECT CROSS-WIND TECHNIQUES!) second-nature, taking in every conceivable strip, such as sand, gravel, grass, upslope, down-slope, one-way in and one-way out, blind approach (See Video Below), etc.
You may have your own aeroplane to fly on the course, or, as in the case of foreign pilots, hire and fly aircraft are arranged. (foreign pilot’s SA validations catered for).

The full course ( 5 nights away), will encompass approximately 20 hrs of flying, +- 50 landings, and about 35 different strips. During this course, we will have interesting presentations on SURVIVAL and basic FIRSTAID.
Before setting off into the blue yonder, we will recap all relevant speeds (all configurations) for your ‘plane, so that you fly the appropriate speed for whatever you are doing, whether taking off, in the circuit, landing, power-off glide, etc.

Aeronautical Decision Making (ADM) and Threat and Error Management (TEM) are at the fore-front of everything we do, as SAFETY is non-negotiable.

AIRMANSHIP will be practiced throughout the course, as you will be exposed to new challenges all the time. Good airmanship results in a more considerate & careful pilot, towards both your aircraft and fellow aviators!

No GPS will be used, and we will get the opportunity to do the “SQUARE SEARCH”, when we don’t find our destination – always gratifying to see how effective it is!
We will cover MOUNTAIN FLYING, as well as get you proficient in the CANYON TURN – easy and a safe (possibly life-saving) manoeuvre if you apply the correct technique.
If we are using the “old” technology 4-cylinder Aero engined aircraft, we will get you safely comfortable with prop-swinging it into life in the event of a flat battery.
The correct (and safe) low-level field inspection will be taught, and there will be plenty of FORCED and PRECAUTIONARY landing practice……….
I have been fortunate enough to have completed about 60 full-length Courses, and about 20 shortened ones, without any incident, other than the odd puncture or flat battery.
This equates to about 1500 hours of flying, none of which is in my logbook, as the client is the Pilot in Command (PIC).
